Default The future: forums set to replace IRC?

Using forums for realtime communication is... novel (and might improve one's multi-window coordination). I wonder why this was chosen instead of IRC. :)

It gives you good practice pressing the refresh button on your browser.

We can scorn developers and not worry about being punched for it. Oh, and another thing, Geoffkhan...

First, we don't have an irc channel here :P. Secondly, I myself would much prefer forums since there are separate threads and boards rather than one big window. IRC meeting of this magniture would overwhelm the developers and it would be difficult to keep up with questions let alone answer them.

It's easy enough to open one. It's possible to use multiple channels. Questions could be filtered through moderators to keep the pace controllable. Otherwise, I do find this forum approach somewhat amusing. :)
