WME is an excellent excellent engine, and I think it's great.

We chose it for a couple of reasons - I was intrigued with the idea of putting the game together myself, so I started looking at engines to try some out. I found the WME website, downloaded it, and set about building the demo game. I found it to be enjoyable and not as difficult as I thought, so I decided there and then to use it. Once I got into putting our game together, I was more and more impressed. The freedom is great - we have total control over everything, so we can make the game look, operate, and feel however we like. I have been able to do everything that I wanted to do for our game.

Also, I have to say the support is excellent. Mnemonic (the creator of the engine), and all the other guys at the WME forums are a real help, even with the simplest of problems. So what more do we need in an engine?
