I had the same problem so let me help you a bit.
Fisrst of all find the pic you want to use, then upload in www.imageshack.us and REMEMBER TO RESIZE IN AVATAR SIZE, thats importand, then copy the URL of the image you uploaded by right clicking to it, then go to your profile settings, where there is a tag "Avatar:" paste the URL and press ok.
That way it should be fine.

Which size it should be ? tried both url on smalest size, dont work somewhat.

Size is not problem , all what you need is link of image with .png format. Remeber .png !
