Default The DotA World Cup is finally announced

A few months ago, a new organization made his arrival in the Defense of the Ancients scene under the name of Nirvana founded by Jun Sheng 'Loveen' Chang who is no one else than the sponsor who sent the Chinese DotA team
CommeDieu to SMM Grand Finals 2009.

By forming Nirvana, Loveen had announced his desire to create a DotA World Cup but we have not have more information since then.

Today is a great day for the DotA community as Loveen finally announced his plans for the World DotA Cup which will take place in November in Wuahn, China with a prize purse of 300,000 RMB (~ 35,000) including 100,000 RMB (~ 11,000) for the winner which is not insignificant.

Nonetheless, we could ask ourselves about this tournament. In fact, Loveen recently lost his European DotA team
Nirvana.Int who decided to quit the organization due to problems with salaries not being paid as well as the ESWC tickets reimbursed by Loveen.

Despite this issue, there is still a silver lining as only 16 teams will make the trip to Wuhan, China to play the Grand-Finals which means that the organizers will host 4 qualifiers for each region which are the following:

    • America/Europe
    • Asia
    • China (Professional)
    • China (College)

As you can notice it, only four teams from each region will be able to make the trip and here is the interesting part. In fact, the organizers will reward all qualified teams with 10,000 RMB (~ 1,100) which would be enough to attract more teams and convince them that this tournament is a serious one despite the problems Nirvana.Int had with their employer.

If you are planning to take part to the first World Cup ever, I suggest you take a look at the following information:

    Venue: Wuhan, China
    Date: November (TDA)

Champions: 100,000 RMB (approx 11,000 Euro)
    Runner-up: 50,000 RMB (approx 5,700 Euro)
    Second Runner-up: 30,000 RMB (approx 3,400 Euro)
    Third Runner-up: 20,000 RMB (approx 2,300 Euro)
Qualified teams for the Grand Final: 10,000 RMB (approx 1,100 Euro)
