    Default Gorillaz 'to take break in 2011'

    Damon Albarn has revealed that Gorillaz will disband for 2011.

    The band, whose new iPad album The Fall will be given away for free on Christmas Day, had been expected to go on hiatus after Albarn previously suggested that he would "retire" the animated group.

    The singer confirmed to Triple J: "I'm putting it back in a box for a while. Just putting it back on the shelf. I've got other stuff."

    He added: "I'm doing a piece for the Manchester International Festival about Elizabethan occult philosophy. It kind of was the end of magic and the beginning of science."

    Gorillaz are currently touring in Australia, which will be their last collaborative work as a band for the foreseeable future.
