another msn problem

in the attached jpeg is what i get sometimes when i try to connect to msn...but mostly i click connect and then nothing..it returns in the previous menu and i have to press connect again and the story goes on..

ps i turned off all firewalls anivirus spybots etc...thats not the problem

i recently formatted my pc..

i have win xp sp3.. and i am about to kill myself :P

also if anyone knows how to have windows live messenger version 8 without asking to update will win 500.000 eyrws!! (i think thats the solution cause i have this problem only with the newest edition of msn)
